Q. I want to apply to be a tutor, but I don't have that much time. What is the time commitment?
If you don't have much time, no worries! You can choose the number of hours, days, and times you want to tutor. So you can just tutor for 60 mins a week and spend 60 mins on your lesson plan at the very minimum.
Q: Do I have to make my own curriculum?
No, you do not need to make your own curriculum. We provide it, as well as resource links, for you. However, you can definitely modify it and go above the basic standards.
Q: What do I do if Microsoft Teams isn't working?
If Microsoft Teams isn't working, please watch this youtube video. However, if that doesn't help troubleshoot, please email or contact us immediately.
Q: What is the process of becoming a tutor?
In order to become a tutor, you must sign up through our forms. Then, we will reach out to you, interview you, and ask you to sign our tutor contract. If you pass our screening, we will pair you up with tutee(s).
Q: What benefits do I get as a tutor? Will I get volunteer hours?
Yup! You will receive a certificate verifying your volunteer hours. You can also claim your volunteer hours in your school portal, such as X2Vol, and use our email for verification.
Q: Can I still apply if I don't live in the US?
Yes, you can! We have students from all around the world. However, if you chose to apply, please contact us before or after you fill out the form. This allows us to match you with tutees/tutors that reside in the same time zone as you.
Q: What standards are the students going to learn?
All of your students learn material that is based off of Fairfax County and Virginia (USA) state standards. We are currently in the processof integrating Common Core and International standards into our curriculum.
